Exeter Chiefs 20- 17 Newcastle Falcons, Sandy Park

Joe Simmonds' deciding penalty kick on the 77th minute helped Exeter earn a spot in the Anglo-Welsh cup final with a 20-17 win against Newcastle Falcons.

The hosts managed to overcome the 10-point half-time deficit with a strong second-half surge.

The Falcons failed to score even a single point in the second-half as they succumbed to a 3-point defeat.

Stu Townsend (2) and Simmonds (47) scored tries for the hosts while Kyle Cooper (25) and Simon Hammersley (32) equalled the tally for the visitors.

Toby Flood converted both the Falcons' tries in addition to scoring a penalty but his opposite number Simmonds' went one up on him in the kicking contest by scoring the game-defining penalty.

Exeter will now face Bath at Kingsholm in Sunday's final.
