Australian international Kurtley Beale's association with Waratahs seems to be all but over after sustaining a knee injury which is likely to keep him out up to six months.

Beale suffered the injury in the first minute of the Waratahs' win over the Bulls in the Super Rugby encounter on Saturday and further scans revealed that Beale is suffering from "torn patella tendon injury" and is likely to undergo a surgery on Monday which will keep him out for "four to six months."

This also keeps the 27-year-old out of contention for the three-Test series against England starting next month and is also expected to miss the start of the next season for his new club Wasps.

A statement released by Waratahs confirmed that Beale will be undergoing the surgery on Monday and is likely to be out of action until November.

"Waratahs centre Kurtley Beale has received a better prognosis than expected after injuring his knee during last night's round 12 Super Rugby match against the Bulls,” said the statement.

"Beale is likely to be sidelined for four to six months with scans revealing his patella tendon has torn from his patella.
The result is the best possible prognosis given the tendon remains intact, requiring less invasive surgery, and that the injury is isolated with no other damage to the knee.

"Beale's length of time away from the game will be better understood following surgery tomorrow, Monday 16th May, at midday (local time)."

With 60 Test caps for Australia in six years, Beale was recently signed by the English club Wasps for a whopping £700,000 deal to become one of the biggest signings in the Premiership history.
