Italy scrum-half Stephen Varney has been ruled out of the final two rounds of the Six Nations tournament due to an unspecified injury.

The 20-year-old sustained the injury during the opening half of the third round clash against Ireland last weekend and was replaced in the break with Alessandro Fusco.

“Gutted to have been ruled out for the remainder of the Six Nations through injury," he posted on his social media account.

“All the best to the boys for [the] next two games.”

Italy are languishing at the bottom of the Six Nations after losing all their three matches and will face Scotland and Wales in the final two rounds on 12th and 19th March respectively.
