Ireland’s rugby squad has confirmed a clean bill of health as they prepare for their much-anticipated Six Nations opener against England on February 1 in Dublin.

Several key players have made timely recoveries, bolstering the squad ahead of the tournament:

  • Dan Sheehan: The hooker has returned after recovering from ACL surgery following a knee injury sustained last year.
  • James Lowe: The winger is fit again after overcoming a calf injury and is expected to play a crucial role.
  • Peter O’Mahony: The experienced flanker has fully recovered from a calf contusion and is set to bring his leadership and physicality to the field.
  • Hugo Keenan: The fullback is back in action, adding depth and reliability to the team’s backline.

The Irish squad has convened in Dublin to commence their final preparations before heading to Portugal for a warm-weather training camp.

“No, everyone’s been training. No one is sitting out any training, which is good,” said coach Paul O’Connell.

“Yeah, I’d say it has been business as usual really,” added O’Connell.

“We’ve a way of doing things before the first game. We know there’s generally 12 days before we play and it’s always a challenge to be ready to play a big international rugby match with only 12 days of preparation.

"We have a bit of a formula which we stick to, we tweak it a little bit to keep it fresh. But it’s been good.”

With all players available for selection, the team is focused on starting the Six Nations strongly. The coaching staff has emphasized the importance of immediate impact, highlighting the need for a winning momentum from the outset.
