Ireland head coach Andy Farrell has been handed a significant selection boost ahead of Saturday’s Test against South Africa as Garry Ringrose and Josh van der Flier returned to full-speed training.
Both were sidelined since their appearance against New Zealand in Chicago, each having picked up hamstring strains.
Ringrose and van der Flier are now on course to be available for selection, with Farrell stating: “They trained at full pace today.
"All’s well … barring some reaction.”
Meanwhile, Stuart McCloskey is doubtful for the clash after sustaining a groin injury in Ireland’s 46-19 win over Australia. The coach confirmed the injury will be scanned for further assessment.
While Ireland suffered a defeat against the All Blacks in Chicago, they bounced back with wins over Japan and Australia in the ongoing autumn internationals.
