Ireland have confirmed that flanker Dan Leavy will miss the upcoming autumn international clash against New Zealand at Aviva Stadium following an injury.

Leavy, who earned a promotion from the bench to replace injured Sean O'Brien for the game against world champions felt tightness on Saturday morning. He also missed the training on Thursday and was given time until the matchday to make it to the game but has eventually decided to miss the encounter.

He will be replaced at open-side by Josh van der Flier with Jordi Murphy joining the replacement list.

"Dan Leavy had a fitness test this morning and it was decided he was not 100 per cent, so he will miss the match due to general tightness," an IRFU spokesman confirmed.

Ireland: Rob Kearney, Keith Earls, Garry Ringrose, Bundee Aki, Jacob Stockdale, Johnny Sexton, Kieran Marmion; Cian Healy, Rory Best (c), Tadhg Furlong, Devin Toner, James Ryan, Peter O'Mahony, Josh van der Flier, CJ Stander.

Replacements: Sean Cronin, Jack McGrath, Andrew Porter, Iain Henderson, Jordi Murphy, Luke McGrath, Joey Carberry, Jordan Larmour.
