Ulster lock Iain Henderson will miss the upcoming Ireland's tour of South Africa following an injury setback.

Henderson underwent a surgery on his toe and is expected to be on the sidelines for at least three months.

This means the 32-year-old will be missing Ireland's upcoming tour of South Africa and has also been ruled out of Ulster's remainder of the ongoing campaign.

“Iain Henderson will miss our summer tour to South Africa after undergoing toe surgery – wishing you a speedy recovery, Hendy,” read a post on the Irish Rugby Football Union’s Instagram account.

Henderson made his Ireland debut in 2012 and has 81 Test caps to his name.

Meanwhile, Ulster also confirmed that James Hume underwent a surgery and will be entering rehabilitation while Luke Marshall and Rob Baloucoune will be unavailable for the upcoming game due to injuries.

The two Tests between Ireland and South Africa will be played on 6th and 13th June at Loftus Versfeld and Hollywoodbets Kings Park respectively.
