Connacht Rugby and the Irish Rugby Football Union have confirmed that Dexcom Stadium in Galway will host the 2026 Women’s Six Nations fixture between Ireland and Italy on Saturday, 18 April.
The match has been scheduled for a 5.40pm kick-off.
The fixture is being described as a landmark moment for women’s rugby in the province. It will be the first time a Women’s Six Nations match is played in Connacht.
The occasion also marks a return of senior international women’s rugby to Galway after almost 20 years. The last time the province hosted an Ireland women’s match was in April 2006, when Ireland played Canada at the old Sportsground.
Connacht officials said hosting the game reflects the growing support for the sport in the west and gives local fans an opportunity to watch top-level international rugby.
The Ireland–Italy clash is expected to attract strong attendance and interest as the Six Nations continues to grow in profile. Tickets will go on sale in the coming months.
