Dragons have confirmed that hooker Wills Austin has returned to Sale Sharks following the end of his short-term loan with the Welsh region.
The 21-year-old joined Dragons to provide cover during a period of injury and made several notable contributions during his stay.
Austin made his Dragons debut in a narrow home defeat to Leinster before marking his European debut in style against Perpignan, scoring two tries in the Challenge Cup.
He was also involved in one of the club’s most important results of the season, coming off the bench in the win over Lyon.
Balancing club and university rugby
Alongside his professional commitments, Austin is the BUCS captain at Swansea University, combining academic rugby with his development at club level.
Austin said he enjoyed his time with Dragons and was grateful for the opportunity to make his European debut, adding that being part of a crucial win was a memorable experience.
“I really enjoyed my time at Dragons and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to make my European debut with the team,” said Austin to the club's official website.
“It was great to be part of a hugely important win on Sunday and I wish the team all the best for the remainder of the season.”
