London Scottish have announced Harlequins hooker Joe Gray as the new head coach ahead of the 2022/23 season.

The news follows after London Scottish and Harlequins announced a strategic partnership last month.

The 33-year-old had a stellar career with Harlequins separated across two stints making over 170 appearances for the club. He had announced that he will be quitting his playing career at the conclusion of the ongoing season.

Gray also had represented Saracens and Northampton Saints and during his career has enjoyed three Gallagher Premiership titles, one Heineken Champions Cup, one Challenge Cup, one Greene King IPA Championship, two LV Cups and one British and Irish Cup.

“I’m delighted to share the news of my new coaching role next season. I started coaching at 18 after a knee injury early in my career and have coached ever since," he told the club's official website.

"The last eight years I have coached at several clubs in the National Leagues and have been the Director of Rugby at Barnes RFC for the last three seasons.

“I’m tremendously excited to begin my new coaching career at the end of the season.

"I’ve spent eleven years with Harlequins as a player and grateful for the opportunity to remain connected with such a great club in a new role. I’m eager to help the next generation develop.”
