Glasgow 28-21 Exeter Chiefs, Scotstoun Stadium
Scorecard

Glasgow Warriors finally managed to break their losing streak in the European Champions Cup with a 28-21 consolation win over Exeter Chiefs at Scotstoun Stadium on Saturday.

This is Glasgow's first win in the tournament and it proved costly for the Aviva Premiership champions as their play-off hopes were crushed.

Stuart Hogg made a strong comeback as he gave an early lead to Glasgow Warriors with a first minute try while Finn Russell add the conversion. It took Exeter Chiefs 38 minutes to get their first points on the board when Sam Simmons crossed over while a conversion from Gareth Steenson saw the visitors level the scores 7-7 at half time.

Things went haywire for the visitors when Nic White was yellow-carded in the 52nd minute and to make things worse Glasgow were awarded a penalty try.

Dave Rennie's side made use of the numerical advantage as Tommy Seymour (59') and Matt Fagerson (61') crashed past the line and conversions from Russell put the home side 21 points ahead.

Even though Exeter tried to reduce the arrears with tries from Don Armand (65') and Ian Whitten (68'), their efforts went in vain as the final push failed to come.
