Wales international Gethin Jenkins' participation in the upcoming Six Nations tournament is under doubt after he suffered a bicep injury.
The 36-year-old sustained the blow while playing for his club Cardiff Blues in the Pro 12 encounter against Ulster following which he underwent a surgery.
Cardiff Blues head coach Danny Wilson revealed that Jenkins might need a rehabilitation period of around three months which makes him doubtful starter for the Six Nations tournament next year.
"Gethin is having surgery today on a ruptured bicep which means he will be out for around three months, but knowing him he will be back before that," said Wilson.
"He is one of the most professional men in terms of prehab, rehab and looking after his body.
"Whatever he is asked to do to get that right I know he will do it, and I imagine he'll be back before three months.
"It's a big blow for us and it's a big blow for Wales. He keeps proving to people that age is just a number.
"His performances for Cardiff Blues and Wales have been of a real high standard. That's how he got the shirt back with Wales, and that's how he's kept hold of it."
The news will be a big blow for Wales interim coach Rob Howley after Dan Lydiate is also set to miss the high profile tournament in February with a ligament injury.
