England lock Geoff Parling is looking forward to his upcoming Super Rugby 2018 stint where he represents Melbourne Rebels.

The 33-year-old was a part of the 2016/17 Aviva Premiership season winning Exeter Chiefs side and had a short-term contract with Japanese club Munakata Sanix Blues before arriving in Australia.

Parling was signed by the Rebels in June despite uncertainty surrounding the club while Wallabies second-rowers Adam Coleman and Matt Philip have also arrived at AAMI Park after representing the now-defunct Western Force last season.

Parling, who has made 32-Test appearances is excited about the prospect of Rebels' chances in the upcoming season on what will be his debut in the competition.

“There’s a really good squad on paper but it’s not really about the squad on paper, it’s about what you go and do as a team when you come together,” Parling told the Rebels website.

“So we’ll see when we get cracking in the season.

“I just want to put my best foot forward and get stuck in.

“Everyone’s here to play and there’s a good buzz around the squad because I guess it’s a new sort of team for a lot of people.

“Nice weather, nice bit of sunshine, really cool city and there’s a good buzz around the club.

“Really good facilities, training looks hard and very good, good organisation so it’ll be interesting to see how we build up into the preseason games and go from there.”

Rebels will open the Super Rugby 2018 campaign with a clash against Queensland Reds at AAMI Park on 23rd February.
