Sale Sharks have announced the signing of fullback Jason Woodward ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Woodward made his professional rugby debut with Wellington in 2009 and went on to play Super Rugby for Melbourne Rebels and Hurricanes.

The 32-year-old made a switch to Bristol in 2016 before joining Gloucester ahead of the 2017/18 season. He has gone on to make 67 appearances for the Cherry and Whites scoring 90 points.

He also had represented New Zealand Under 20 side in the past and was part of their squad during the victorious 2010 Junior World Championship.

Sharks Director of Rugby Alex Sanderson was delighted with the addition of Woodward to the club.

“After speaking with Jason it was clear he was still motivated to perform at the highest level, and he was keen for a move North to join the Sharks," said Sanderson to the club's official website.

“Jason is a proven Premiership performer who will add a great deal of quality and experience to what is a young squad here.

“He has the ability to play in a number of positions and that’s a massive bonus for us with such a busy schedule ahead. "
