England players have agreed to take a 25 per cent salary cut in their new one-year deal with the Rugby Football Union to make amends for the financial crisis created by the pandemic coronavirus.

According to the previous four-year deal, the players were paid 23,000 pounds per match and the current contract which will run until next summer will see them earning 17,250 pounds according to a report in The Telegraph.

Earlier, RFU's top executives and head coach Eddie Jones had a 25 per cent cut in their wages while there were plans to make 139 jobs redundant after predicting loss of 107 million pounds with the games in the country suspended since March.

The Gallagher Premiership resumed earlier this month while the European Champions and Challenge Cup play-offs will be played in September.

England will also complete their 2020 Six Nations campaign with a clash against Italy to be played at Stadio Olimpico on 31st October. They currently hold the top place in the table with three wins from four games.
