Cardiff Blues 10 - 20 Edinburgh, Cardiff Arms Park

Edinburgh managed to hold their nerve in the second half as they completed a 10-20 win over Cardiff Blues in the Pro 14 2017/18 season opener at Cardiff Arms Park on Friday.

The Scottish regional side finally managed to broke their dry spell at Cardiff Arms Park as they got off to winning start under their new head coach Richard Cockerill.

After the first 10 minutes went without a point, fullback Blair Kinghorn crossed over in the 11th minute to get Edinburgh off the mark while Duncan Weir's penalty and conversion ensured they had a lead of 10-0.

Josh Navidi replied back with a try of his own and provided some respite to the hosts with a 35th-minute try and Jarrod Evans' conversion ensured the gap was down to three points at the end of the first half.

A penalty kick from Evans in the seventh minute of restart levelled the scores 10-10 but Chris Dean scored the decisive try for Edinburgh with Weir kicking a penalty and a conversion on either side sealed a 10-20 win for the visitors, who managed a ninth position finish in the previous two seasons.
