Edinburgh have confirmed that Myreside will be the preferred home ground of the Pro 12 club for the next three seasons.

The decision comes after a consultation with local residents, fans and the playing squad. It was in May last year, Edinburgh announced partnership with the owner of New Myreside Stadium, George Watson's College for a trial beginning from January this year.

During the trial period, Edinburgh played six games at the venue, during which they won two and lost four matches.

The BT Murrayfield stadium will be used for training and will host selected matches but the board has decided to play a minimum of nine home games at Myreside next season that is subject to approval from various authorities.

Incoming Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill is pleased with the news and is confident of the club having a successful outing in their new home ground.

"We as a team feel that the intimacy of Myreside will bring the supporters closer to the action and provide the best atmosphere to help drive the players forward on the park.

"Having a home for the club is vital, and the team are fully supportive and excited by the chance to play at Myreside for the foreseeable future."
