Former England lock Dave Attwood will make a return to Bath Rugby ahead of the 2022/23 season from rivals Bristol Bears.

Attwood already played for Bath between 2011 and 2019 and has racked up 157 games for the Gallagher Premiership club since then.

The 34-year-old is currently on a second stint with Bristol and also had represented Gloucester in the past apart from a loan deal with Toulon. Attwood has also played for England in 24 Tests that came between 2010 and 2016.

“It's great to return to Bath and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to play at the Rec once again in front of so many of the fans who I have come to know over such a long time at the club.

“My family and I are settled in the area and I'm excited to contribute and to support the crop of young players with their development.

“My time at Bristol has been hugely enjoyable and I'm grateful to Pat Lam and the Lansdown family for the opportunities I was given.

"It goes without saying that I will remain fully committed for the remainder of this season before focusing on the next chapter of my career.”

Bath are languishing at the bottom of the Gallagher Premiership table with four wins from 19 games.
