Chiefs made an incredible comeback scoring three tries in the final quarter as they sealed a 14-27 win against Rebels in their Super Rugby encounter at AAMI Park on Friday.

After the first quarter went without a point, lock Dominic Bird crossed over in the 21st minute to get Chiefs off the mark while fly-half Damian McKenzie added the conversion.

Chiefs suffered a minor setback as number eight Liam Messam was sin-binned in the 27th minute which was capitalised by Rebels number 10 Jackson Garden-Bachop with a successful penalty to reduce the gap to seven points by the end of the first half.

Wing Marika Koroibete gave a head start for Rebels in the second half when he strolled past the post in the 43rd minute and Garden-Bachop's penalty 10 minutes later brought the hosts to a one-point lead.

Despite, a yellow card to wing Solomona Alaimalo, Brodie Retallick, Sam Cane and Shaun Stevenson went past the line for Chiefs to seal a 13 point victory.

Chiefs now top New Zealand conference with 19 points from four games while Rebels with their third consecutive defeat in as many games languish at the bottom of Australia conference.
