Chiefs announce two new coaches for Super Rugby Pacific

The Chiefs have announced two new additions to their coaching staff for the upcoming Super Rugby Pacific season, reinforcing their team as they aim to build on past successes.

Tana Umaga, a revered figure in New Zealand rugby, joins as the Chiefs' Defence Coach. Umaga, whose illustrious career includes captaining the All Blacks and playing over 100 matches for the Hurricanes, brings a wealth of experience to the role.

Following a distinguished coaching stint with Moana Pasifika and the Blues, Umaga’s return to Super Rugby Pacific is highly anticipated.

His tactical expertise and leadership qualities are expected to bolster the Chiefs' defensive strategies in the upcoming campaign.

Joining Umaga is Jason Holland, who takes on the role of Backs and Attack Coach. Holland, a former Munster player, transitions into this role after guiding the Hurricanes to consistent playoff appearances as their Head Coach.

Known for his innovative approach to backline play, Holland's addition is set to enhance the Chiefs' attacking arsenal.

Chiefs' Head Coach Clayton McMillan expressed his excitement about the new appointments, highlighting the depth of knowledge and experience both coaches bring.

“Having Tana and Jason join our team is a big win for the Chiefs. They both bring unique skill sets and leadership qualities that will be vital for our success this season.”

The Chiefs' revamped coaching panel also includes forward specialist Nick White and skills coach Roger Randle, both of whom remain integral to the team's operations.
