South Africa international Embrose Papier is set to make his debut in the Premiership after he was signed by Sale Sharks on a three-month loan.

Papier made his debut for Super Rugby side Bulls in 2018 making 23 appearances for them while also representing them in Currie Cup competition.

The 22-year-old will head to AJ Bell Stadium ahead of the Premiership Rugby Cup where they face Northampton Saints in the opening round on 21st September.

“Embrose is a fantastic livewire scrum-half with a similar playing style to Faf De Klerk," said Sale Sharks director of rugby Steve Diamond.

"His running, distribution and kicking skills are top class and he comes highly recommended to us from a number of our South African players.

"We look forward to welcoming Embrose to Carrington in the next week or two and I believe he will be a great fit for us during the World Cup period.”

Papier made his debut for South Africa during the June series against Wales last year and has gone on to play seven Tests with his last appearance coming during November clash against the same opposition.
