Wales lock Ben Carter has been ruled out of the Autumn Nations Series after suffering a knee injury during training.

The Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) confirmed Carter's release from the squad, dealing a significant blow to Wales ahead of their autumn fixtures.

“Dragons RFC will release further information on Ben Carter in due course and thank supporters for their well wishes,” Carter’s regional team said.

The Dragons' skipper, who has earned 12 international caps, was expected to compete for a spot in the match-day 23 as Wales prepares to face Fiji in their opener on November 10.

Carter has been replaced by Cardiff forward Teddy Williams, who made his Test debut against South Africa during the 2023 World Cup warm-up matches. Williams will now step into the squad as Wales look to end their 13-month winless run in Test rugby.

Wales will kick off their autumn campaign against Fiji before taking on Australia on November 17 and South Africa on November 23. All three matches will be held at the Principality Stadium, where the roof will be closed for each game, as confirmed by the WRU.

Wales are hoping to bounce back after a challenging run of form, having not secured a Test win since defeating Georgia in 2022.
