Australia centre Christian Leali'ifano is confident of a fightback from Wallabies in the ongoing series against England after losing the first Test in Brisbane by 28-39.

Australia now find themselves in a must-win situation after losing the opening game and history seems to be on their side as they have never lost a second game of the series previously.

In the 2013 series against British and Lions, Australia lost the first Test by 21-23 in Brisbane but bounced back in the second game winning it narrowly 16-15.

It was Lealiifano's conversion in the 76th minute that sealed the game for the Wallabies and the 28-year-old wants to take inspiration from that performance which came three years back at the Etihad Stadium.

"I didn't have too many memories of the first game, after being knocked out in the first 40 seconds or so, but we bounced back in a massive way in Melbourne," he said.

"It was a tight contest, but to get the result and send it into a decider in the last game was great. It's what you want - you don't want a dead rubber going into the last game.

"It's been replayed a bit and replayed in my mind a bit as well! Hopefully it won't come down to that, for either team.

'Those memories are still very fond. That was a special time in my life, the Lions series. I'm super grateful that I was part of that.

"Fighting back is the Wallaby psyche, the Wallaby attitude - to never give up and always look to fight back. When you are down in the dumps it gives you extra motivation."

The second Test will be played at the AAMI Park in Melbourne on 18th June with England having a lead of 1-0 in the three-match series.
