Barbarian will take on Wales in a men’s and women’s double header at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham on Saturday, 27 June 2026, marking a major summer fixture in the international rugby calendar.

The historic fixture continues a rivalry that dates back to 1915, with many Welsh legends having previously represented the Barbarians.

Both matches will be staged on the same day, offering fans a festival-style showcase of elite men’s and women’s rugby at the end of the domestic season.

Wales will use the London clash as an important warm-up ahead of the inaugural Nations Championship, where they are scheduled to face Fiji, Argentina and South Africa in July.

Head coach Steve Tandy said the Barbarians’ attacking style and freedom make the fixture a valuable test in preparation for the new competition.

“Playing against the Barbarians is always a very special occasion. They play with freedom and creativity and bring together some of the best players in the world.

"This is a game that will be an important part of our preparation as we gear up for the Nations Championship and I’m sure it will offer up some exciting action for fans.”

The women’s match also carries significance, following a similar double header between the sides in 2019.

Wales women’s head coach Sean Lynn described the Barbarians as a central part of rugby’s culture, capable of assembling world-class squads for showcase occasions.

“The Baabaas are a key part of rugby’s culture and history and have the ability to attract world class talent and we are delighted to have the opportunity to play them at the home of rugby.”
