Australia have received a major boost ahead of their clash against England at Twickenham with lock Dean Mumm cleared of the charges by the autumn international disciplinary panel.

The 32-year-old was sin-binned in the 22nd minute during the game against Ireland after performing a dangerous tackle on Ireland's Tadhg Furlong.

The on-field referee Jerome Garces did not sanction a red card for Mumm following the incident as he believed the tackle was not "dynamic".

A statement from autumn international disciplinary said: "The disciplinary committee concluded that, although Mr Mumm had committed an act of foul play, the particular circumstances of the incident meant that Mr Mumm's actions would not have warranted a red card.

"Accordingly, no sanction was imposed and Mr Mumm is therefore free to resume playing immediately.

"Mr Mumm accepted that he had committed an act of foul play (for which he had been yellow-carded) but asserted that it would not have warranted a red card."
