Angus O’Brien Signs New Dragons Contract
The Caerleon-born back has made 120 appearances for his home club and continues to be a central figure in the Dragons squad. A product of the Dragons Academy, O’Brien is in his second spell with the region and has developed into one of the team’s most experienced and influential players.
The 31-year-old has been in strong form this season and has now committed his future to the club with a new multi-year agreement. His versatility across fly-half and full-back, along with his leadership role as co-captain, has made him a key part of the squad.
Dragons Career Numbers And Leadership Role
O’Brien made his 100th appearance for Dragons on Boxing Day 2024 and has scored 492 points for the club, placing him fourth on the all-time list of points scorers. He is now close to the 500-point mark, another significant milestone in his regional career.
He was named Dragons Player of the Season at the end of the 2022/23 campaign and has continued to play an important role on and off the field alongside fellow leaders in the squad.
Rodney Parade Future Confirmed
O’Brien has also represented Wales Sevens, including at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, but his longest and most significant contribution has come with his home region.
“I’m delighted to have re-signed and extend my time at my home region.
“There’s no place like Rodney Parade on a match day and I’m looking forward to continuing to play there over the next few years in front of our amazing fans".
