British and Irish Lions head coach Andy Farrell has made two changes to his starting XV for the final Test against Australia, as the touring side aims to complete a rare series whitewash in Sydney on Saturday.
Ireland lock James Ryan replaces Ollie Chessum in the second row, while Scotland’s Blair Kinghorn comes in on the wing in place of James Lowe.
The rest of the team remains unchanged from the side that pulled off a dramatic 29-26 comeback victory in Melbourne, sealing the series 2-0 with one match to spare.
Despite having already secured the series, Farrell has opted to stick with his key players, underlining the squad’s desire to finish the tour undefeated. The Lions have now won all eight matches on their 2025 tour, including the opening 27-19 Test win in Brisbane.
The Lions last achieved an unbeaten series in 1974, when they won three Tests and drew one against South Africa. A win on Saturday would mark their first-ever clean sweep on Australian soil.
England’s Maro Itoje continues as captain, joined in the second row by Ryan. Ireland’s Andrew Porter, Dan Sheehan, and Tadhg Furlong retain their places in the front row, with Furlong making his ninth consecutive Lions Test start.
The back row also remains unchanged, with Tom Curry at openside, Jack Conan at No.8, and Tadhg Beirne at blindside. The halfback pairing of Jamison Gibson-Park and Finn Russell stays intact, supported by Bundee Aki and Huw Jones in the midfield.
In the back three, Kinghorn joins full-back Hugo Keenan and England’s Tommy Freeman, while Lowe moves to the bench.
Reflecting on the tour so far, Farrell said, “Last weekend’s Test match in Melbourne was an incredible spectacle and illustrated how special Lions tours are and what it means to both the players and the supporters.
"We are expecting another epic battle this weekend against a Wallaby side that showed their quality last week.”
