Harlequins have announced that their captain and England international, Alex Dombrandt, has signed a long-term contract extension with the club.

Dombrandt’s commitment is a major boost for Harlequins as they prepare for the upcoming phases of the season, with their influential No. 8 set to remain at the heart of the team’s ambitions.

Dombrandt joined Harlequins’ senior squad in 2018 and has since become one of the most consistent performers in the Gallagher Premiership.

The back-row forward has made over 100 appearances for the club, playing a pivotal role in their 2021 Gallagher Premiership triumph, which saw Harlequins claim the title in one of the most dramatic finals in Premiership history.

The 26-year-old forward has not only excelled at the domestic level but also earned international recognition, making 17 appearances for England since his debut in 2021.

Known for his dynamic ball-carrying ability and knack for scoring crucial tries, Dombrandt has become a vital player for both club and country.

Dombrandt expressed his excitement about continuing his journey with Harlequins, stating: “I’m thrilled to have extended my time at Harlequins.

"This club means so much to me, and I’m proud to be part of a team that is always striving for success.

"The supporters, the staff, and my teammates make this a fantastic place to play rugby, and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together in the coming seasons.”

Appointed club captain ahead of the 2022/23 season, Dombrandt has embraced his leadership role, guiding a talented squad in their pursuit of silverware.

Under his captaincy, Harlequins continue to play their signature attacking rugby while building a strong foundation for sustained success.

Harlequins head coach, Tabai Matson, praised Dombrandt’s influence both on and off the pitch: “Alex is a phenomenal talent and an outstanding leader for this team.

"His contributions to Harlequins over the years have been immense, and we’re delighted to have him committed to the club for the long term. We believe he has plenty more to offer, and his leadership will be crucial as we aim for further success.”
