Zebre climbed out of the bottom two of the Guinness PRO12 standings for the first time this season with an 18-8 victory over their Italian rivals Benetton Treviso at the Stadio Monigo on Sunday.

Former Australian international Luke Burgess had given Zebre an 8-3 half-time lead with his first try in the competition before Giulio Toniolatti's converted score five minutes from time wrapped up the spoils for the visitors.

Having also beaten Treviso at home in their previous fixture, Zebre are now up to 10th in the table, moving a point ahead of Newport Gwent Dragons.

Winless Treviso, whose second-half try through Chris Smylie gave them a glimmer of hope only for Toniolatti to go over for Zebre shortly after, remain firmly at the foot of the table having suffering their 22nd successive defeat stretching back to last season.
