Scorecard

Duncan Weir contributed with 17 points as Worcester Warriors went on to complete a 27-20 win over Gloucester Rugby in their Gallagher Premiership encounter at Sixways on Sunday.

The win has taken Worcester Warriors to 41 points as they move to safety in the battle to avoid relegation while Gloucester are still at third with 61 points.

Weir kicked the first penalty as he kicked a 6th minute penalty goal to begin the proceedings for the Warriors but Gloucester replied back through a try from Henry Purdy in the 11th minute after he went past a couple of defenders.

Weir seized the lead back for the home side with a 16th minute penalty goal and a minute later he contributed with a converted try as Worcester increased their lead to 13-5 before Billy Twelvetrees with his first penalty kick brought down the gap to five points.

As the half time was approaching, Mark Atkinson made a terrific pass to scrum-half Willi Heinz as he went over the line and a conversion from Twelvetrees meant the teams went into the break with a 13-15 scoreline.

Worcester had the better start in the second half when Niall Annett muscled over the line for their second try in the 50th minute and six minutes later it was Darren Barry's turn to touchdown after grabbing a wide pass from Weir. The Worcester fly-half also kicked both the conversions as the home side stretched their tally to 27 points.

Purdy with his second in the 62nd minute provided a glimmer of hope for the Cherry and Whites but they failed to add any further points in the game to lose the encounter by seven points.
