South Africa coach Jacques Nienaber expressed disappointment over his team's 30-17 defeat to Australia in the recently concluded Rugby Championship game in Brisbane.

Len Ikitau and Marika Koroibete scored twice for the Wallabies while Quade Cooper kicked two apiece of conversions and penalties and in comparison Lukhanyo Am touched down for the Springboks while Handre Pollard slotted four penalties.

This was also the second defeat for the Springboks in successive weeks against the Wallabies after losing to them 26-28 last weekend at Cbus Super Stadium.

"We are sorry, that's all we can say," said Nienaber following the game on Saturday.

"It was not a performance that was worthy enough for a Springbok jersey.

"We sincerely apologise. Everyone, from management, coaching staff -- this was a very poor performance."

The game also saw South Africa reduced to 14 players temporarily when Faf de Klerk was sin-binned in the 12th minute for slapping the ball out of Nic White's hands at a ruck.

"We just made too many errors," admitted Nienaber.

"Our exit game wasn't up to standard and was inconsistent.

"It wasn't a great performance."
