Wasps have confirmed the signing of winger Paolo Odogwu from Gallagher Premiership rivals Sale Sharks ahead of the 2019/20 season.

The 22-year-old has been with Sale Sharks since his professional rugby debut in 2016 and made impact straightaway in the Premiership Sevens. Overall, he has made 29 first team appearances with the AJ Bell Stadium outfit including 15 Premiership games and also had loan stints with Sale FC and Rotherham Titans.

“It’ll be great to move back to my hometown and the chance to play for such a prestigious club as Wasps is really special for me," said Odogwu, who was a part of Castore Sportswear Academy.

“I feel like I’ve got a lot to offer and I can’t wait to meet my new teammates in the summer.”

Odogwu also has the experience of playing for Leicester Tigers during his Academy Years and will now be welcomed at the Ricoh Arena.

“Paolo has been stuck behind the likes of seasoned internationals in Chris Ashton, Denny Solomona and Marland Yarde at Sale, and at just 22, he needs more game-time," said Wasps director of rugby Dai Young.

“We recognise that he has a lot of potential and has a bit of x-factor about him, so we’re looking forward to bringing him on board and hope to help him realise his potential while wearing the Black and Gold.”
