Australia head coach Michael Cheika has included Waratahs hooker Tolu Latu in the squad for the upcoming series against Ireland.

The decision follows after Melbourne Rebels hooker Jordan Uelese has been ruled out of the remainder of the Super Rugby season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament during the game against Blues last weekend.

Apart from the 25-year-old, Cheika has also added Brandon Paenga-Amosa and Folau Faingaa in the squad ahead of the first Test that kicks-off on Saturday in Brisbane.

Latu has played just four Tests for Australia with all of it coming in 2016 but Cheika expressed confidence on the Waratahs hooker to hit the ground running straightaway.

“He’s been out of favour at the ‘Tahs for a lot of the year and he’s coming back into favour a little. His two or three games he’s played, I think he’s had a good impact and he’s been excellent since he has been in camp,” Cheika said to Australia's official website.

“He’ll be banking on his last few games of form but also his previous games for the Wallabies and I’m sure he’ll do well.”

The three-game series will be played in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney on 9th, 16th and 23rd June respectively.
