Wales head coach Wayne Pivac has dropped Cory Hill from the squad for the upcoming summer Test series against Canada and Argentina.

The decision follows after the 29-year-old had informed his club Cardiff Blues about his desire to move overseas which will make him ineligible to represent Wales under the 60-cap rule. He has currently played 32 Tests for his national side since his international debut in 2016.

Meanwhile, Hill's place in the squad is taken by Matthew Screech, who rejoined Cardiff Blues in 2021 from Dragons.

“Cardiff Blues can confirm Cory Hill has been released from Wales’ summer squad with immediate effect,” read a statement.

“The decision was taken after the second-row informed the Cardiff Blues of his intention to explore a possible opportunity overseas.

“As a consequence, new signing Matthew Screech has been called up to Wayne Pivac’s squad as a replacement.”

Wales will kick-start their summer series with a clash against Canada on 3rd July followed by back to back games against Argentina on 10th and 17th July.
