Urayasu D-Rocks have announced the signing of World Cup winning Springboks number eight Jasper Wiese for the 2024/25 season.
Wiese was recently part of Premiership club Leicester Tigers having joined them in 2020 and was a key member of the Premiership winning side in 2022.
The 28-year-old started his career in 2016 and was part of Griffons before making his Super Rugby debut with Cheetahs in 2017. He made his Springboks debut in 2021 and has 27 Test caps to his name.
Wiese also was part of the 2023 Rugby World Cup winning squad of South Africa. He will join former Springbok and now coach Johan Ackermann at the club, who saw the side promoted to division one next season.
"I am very excited to be a member of the Urayasu D-Rocks," he told the club's official website.
"I am looking forward to being a part of the squad and will play my best in every game to help the team win.
"I will do my best in every game to contribute to the team's victory, so I ask all the fans for your support."
Wiese is currently serving a six-week ban which has ruled him out of South Africa's Tests against Ireland and Portugal along with the opening two games of the Rugby Championship against the Wallabies next month.
