Ulster 27 - 16 Connacht

 
The game started off with a strong start from Ulster with Adam D'Arcy making a run then the ball being spread to the left but a forward pass from Darren Cave to Nevin Spence brought the first scrum of the game which connacht won comfortably, a grubber kick from Ian Keatley gave Ulster a line out.


A string of bad passes from Ulster was then put to bed by a clever kick from Ian Humphreys, a mistake from connacht at the line out gave the chance for Paddy McAllister to capitalise but he crossed the touch line. After Ulster were caught infringing at the ruck connacht used the punt wisely with a clever kick, connacht used the line out wisely but Sean Cronin knocked on but Ulster failed to capitalise.

Great play from Ruan Pienaar with a clever pass to Ian Humphreys saw Craig Gilroy make the break with Paddy Wallace following up who then gave the ball to Rory Best who crossed the try line Ulster 5 - 0 Connacht. Ian Humphreys then converted Ulster 7 - 0 Connacht.

After a line out from Connacht nothing was gained from the rucks so Ian Keatley smartly got the ball and slotted over the drop goal to make it Ulster 7 - 3 Connacht.

After Mike McCarthy was caught on the wrong side Ruan Pienaar opted for a punt but from the line out but this was knocked on. From the scrum Connacht got the ball and got a line out from which Ulster got penalised for dragging the opponent down.

After Connacht got penalised at the scrum, Pienaar quickly got the ball and spread the ball from back to back with Craig Gilroy recieved the ball but Connacht rucked well and got the ball back.

An over thrown line out caused connacht to be under some pressure as many chances were defended well by Ulster but then a poor kick by Humphreys nearly allowed Fionn Carr to get through but a brillant tackle from Darren Cave stopped the winger from getting away.

After poor rucking from Ulster Connacht gained from this and were awarded a penalty that Ian Keatley missed. Ulster 7 - 3 Connacht.

A big kick from Keatley was chased by Gavin Duffy and fought for the ball with Adam D'Arcy with Duffy winning a grubber kick from Keatley nearly put Connacht through but an Ulster player put it down within their own area.

Great rucking from Connacht gave Keatley the ball who darted past an Ulster play to pass to Fionn Carr who was tackled, Ulster are performing poorly at the ruck.

Alot more pressure has been exerted from Connacht with Ulster not replying. A huge tackle from Rory Best sent John Muldoon flying but still Connacht were playing well.

A great run from Ian Humphreys who swept past 2 Connachts players, passed to Adam D'Arcy who coasted over the line, Ian Humphreys slotted the conversion to make it Ulster 14 - 3 Connacht.

Ian Keatley tries to end the half with points as Ulster give away a penalty, Ulster 14 - 6 Connacht.

Half Time

Another poor start from Ulster at the start of the 2nd half as Ulster mess up another drop out.

A lot of kicking between Connacht and ulster with Dan Tuohy and Craig Gilroy not communicating properly causing Tuohy to knock backwards. After an infringement Keatley is going for the posts for Connacht but the penalty hits the posts and comes straight out to an Ulster penalty. Dan Tuohy gives away a penalty for an infringement at the ruck in which Ian Keatley kicks over Ulster 14 - 9 Connacht.

After an infringment at the ruck by Connacht Ian Humphreys converted the penalty to make it Ulster 17 - 9 Connacht

Great work from the line out from Connacht saw Frank Murphy and Ian Keatley spread the ball nicely to whom Sean Cronin got the ball and the burst of speed from the hooker will rival Richardt Strauss's next season when Cronin moves to Leinster. Ian Keatley kicked over the conversion. Ulster 17 - 16 Connacht

Ulsters scrum tonight hasn't had the punch that many would of expected, Connacht have scrummaged very well with Wilkinson, Cronin and Hagan having the upper hand on the Ulster front row.

Ulster win a scrum with Connacht infringing, Ulster get good ball with Nevin Spence nearly beating the Connacht defence. Good off loading sees Ulster get into a good position, with Ulster rolling over the line the ball gets held up by Connacht.

Ulster win another scrum with a penalty being given away infront of the posts, Ian Humphreys converts to make it Ulster 20 - 16 Connacht

After a few scrum resets, Connacht get pinged at the scrum and Pienaar goes for the punt. Ulster have good ball in the corner with the forwards making very good drives, play gets halted due to a infringment by Connacht. Ulster work well from the scrum with Pienaar feeding Humphreys who then feeds Darren Cave. Humphreys converts to make it Ulster 27 - 16 Connacht
