Gloucester have named Tomos Williams as club captain for the 2025/26 season.

The Welsh scrum-half, who joined from Cardiff last summer, was awarded Premiership Player of the Season for 2024/25 and earned selection for the British & Irish Lions squad.

Williams has made an immediate impact at Kingsholm - his leadership and strong performance on the field have earned him the captaincy.

Arthur Clark and Seb Atkinson, both of whom made their England debuts this summer, have been named vice-captains and will support Williams in leading the team.

Williams expressed his pride in the appointment, noting the club’s importance to the city and the passion of its fans.

“I’m incredibly proud to be named captain of such a historic rugby club. We’ve got an exciting, ambitious group here, and I’m looking forward to leading them on the pitch.”

Director of Rugby George Skivington paid tribute to outgoing captain Lewis Ludlow for his leadership over the past five and a half seasons and praised Williams for quickly establishing himself as a leader.

“Tomos has impressed with his communication, standards, and performances. Arthur and Seb also bring strong leadership on and off the field.”
