Following the British & Irish Lions' 28-24 defeat to Argentina in Dublin, flanker Tom Curry has urged his teammates to embrace uncomfortable truths and confront their shortcomings head-on.

With the team now preparing for the tour of Australia, Curry stressed that the squad must make every moment count, warning that the window for growth is already closing.

Reflecting on the mood inside the camp, Curry highlighted how fleeting the opportunity is to represent the Lions, placing added importance on mindset and daily commitment.

“The thing with this sport and this tour is that it comes and goes so quickly. You’ve got to make the most of it… Every meeting and every session. Before you know it we’ll be playing in Australia so we can’t let moments pass us by.”

He added that wearing the Lions jersey requires more than just talent—it demands respect, both for teammates and the legacy of the shirt.

“We speak a lot about respect with our own team-mates. We’ve only got six weeks together. Respect is so hard to earn but so easy to lose.”

Curry didn’t shy away from addressing the performance against Argentina. While the Lions showed patches of promise, costly mistakes and poor execution in the closing stages handed victory to the Pumas. For Curry, intent must now be matched by action.

“We have to have the tough conversations. We have to take it on the chin. But then it’s about going and doing it. We can’t just keep saying it and not doing it.”

The Lions now shift focus to their first Australian tour fixture against the Western Force in Perth. The squad is being bolstered by returning players from domestic campaigns, adding competition for places and a chance to reset.
