Scarlets flanker Taine Plumtree has signed a new contract, confirming his commitment to the West Wales club ahead of the upcoming season.
The 25-year-old forward has impressed since his arrival in 2023 and has now secured his future with the team as part of their long-term plans.
Plumtree made an immediate impact after joining Scarlets from New Zealand last summer, making 18 appearances and scoring 20 points in his debut season.
His performances earned him a spot in Wales' World Cup training squad in 2023, and he made his international debut later that year. His blend of power, athleticism, and versatility in the back row has made him a vital asset for both club and country.
Born in Swansea, Plumtree spent most of his early life in New Zealand, where he rose through the ranks, representing Wellington in the Mitre 10 Cup and featuring in Super Rugby for the Blues.
Despite representing New Zealand at U20 level in 2019, he qualified for Wales through birth and made his full international debut in 2023, highlighting a remarkable cross-hemisphere journey.
Plumtree’s re-signing comes as Scarlets continue to build for the future, reinforcing their squad with a strong core of both experienced and emerging talent.
The dynamic flanker is expected to play a central role in the Scarlets’ campaign in the United Rugby Championship and beyond.
