South Africa hooker Malcolm Marx assured that they will be preparing for the second Test against New Zealand with same intent after a win in the opening round of the Rugby Championship.

Riding on tries from Kurt-Lee Arendse and Willie Le Roux and a 16-point contribution from Handre Pollard, the Springboks registered a 26-10 win at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday.

It also brought an end to a eight-year losing streak for South Africa against New Zealand at home.

Marx, who celebrated his 50th Test cap with a man of the match performance said despite the victory, the Springboks will not take the All Blacks lightly when the two teams meet again on 13th August at Emirates Airlines Park.

“It is never easy against the All Blacks, it’s always a hard grind until the end,” said Marx.

“We will never take anything for granted, so we will work equally hard next week and do as much as we can so that we are up for the challenge.

“It is always tough against them. The All Blacks side is always up there, and they’ve been great.

"The previous five games we played against one another was decided by about two points, so we need to be ready for another big game next weekend.”
