South Africa have named flanker Siya Kolisi as the captain for the upcoming three-game Test series against England to be played in June.

The 26-year-old will take over the reins from injured Warren Whiteley and in the process becomes the first black Test captain for the side.

Meanwhile, Pieter-Steph du Toit will lead the Springboks for the weekend's game against USA in Washington and head coach Rassie Eramus backs both the players to have successful outings.

"I believe both of them will do a good job as captains," said Eramus.

"It is a huge honour to captain the Springboks and Siya and Pieter-Steph are two honest, hard-working men who enjoy the respect of their fellow players."

Kolisi made his Test debut for South Africa in 2013 and has gone on to play 28 games at the international level including the clash against Wales in December last year.

He was also selected as the captain of Super Rugby side Stormers in February last year.

The three-game series between England and South Africa will be played between 9th and 23rd June in Johannesburg, Bloemfontein and Cape Town.
