Saracens have confirmed the signing of South Africa international Damian Willemse on loan ahead of the 2019/20 season.

Willemse made his professional rugby debut in 2017 with Western Province and in the same year went on to represent Super Rugby side Stormers and has played 30 times for the club scoring 143 points.

He has also represented South Africa Schools and South Africa Under 20 teams in the past and went on to make his Springboks debut last year when he played five Tests with three out of it coming in the Rugby Championship in 2018.

“We’re grateful to Western Province for allowing Damian to play his rugby at Saracens for the next three months,” Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall told the official website.

“He is a young talent and we’re looking forward to welcoming him to the club.”

Willemse will provide cover for injured duo Alex Goode and Max Malins, who are sidelined with foot injuries.

Saracens will kick-start their 2019/20 season of the Gallagher Premiership with a clash against Northampton Saints on 19th October at Allianz Park.
