South Africa captain Siya Kolisi insisted that the Springboks are determined to seize on the rare opportunity to claim the Freedom Cup as they face New Zealand in Cape Town on Saturday.
The Springboks last won the Freedom Cup in 2009 when they defeated the All Blacks in Bloemfontein and Durban and since then New Zealand have won the series 13 consecutive times.
Having defeated New Zealand 31-27 in Johannesburg, Kolisi's men have a chance to win the Freedom Cup provided they win or atleast draw their encounter on Saturday. A victory also will strengthen South Africa's chances of winning the Rugby Championship title as the have already won three consecutive matches in the competition.
"The match is huge for the whole team," Kolisi said.
"We are in a place we've [rarely] been before in the Rugby Championship and over and above that, we've only seen photographs of the Freedom Cup; most of us in this group haven't touched it."
Kolisi was under doubt for the weekend's game due to a facial fracture but has declared himself fit and will be leading the team.
"I'm fine, there's nothing I can do about it," he said about his injury.
"I spoke to the team doctor and he said it's all about how much pain I can take. The worst that can happen is [the nose] breaks further, but I'm planning to get it fixed anyway."
New Zealand are second in the Rugby Championship table with 6 points while South Africa continue to hold the top place with 14 points.
