Six-try Worcester Valkyries defeat Firwood Waterloo by 34-24

Firwood Waterloo 24-34 Worcester Valkyries, Memorial Ground

Heather Cowell and Bianca Blackburn scored hat-trick of tries as Worcester Valkyries went on to defeat Firwood Waterloo by 24-34 in the Women's Senior Cup at the Memorial Ground on Sunday.

It took Cowell just one minute to get the Valkyries off the mark with a touchdown which was followed by Sam Bree's conversion. However, Michelle Davis responded with a try of her own in the 15th minute to reduce the gap to two points.

With an off-load from Zoe Bennion, Blackburn successfully crossed over to score the second try for the Valkyries and Bree's conversion took them to 14 points but once again Waterloo bounced back with Bex Wilson and Beth Stott adding seven points together.

Just at the stroke of half-time, Cowell rumbled across the post for the second time to ensure a seven-point lead for Valkyries.

In the second half, even though Wilson scored two more tries for the Waterloo in the 60th and 80th minute, Cowell and Blackburn ensured the Valkyries won by a margin of 10 points after they successfully scored three tries each in the game.

Worcester Valkyries will now take on Saracens Women in the Senior Cup at Allianz Park on 20th November.
