The DHL Stormers have announced the contract extension of dynamic centre Wandisile Simelane, reaffirming their commitment to nurturing young South African talent.
Since joining the franchise in early 2024, Simelane has quickly established himself as a vital part of the backline, bringing flair, footwork, and intelligence to the midfield.
Having seamlessly adapted to the Stormers' fast-paced style of play, Simelane has become a fan favourite with his ability to unlock defences and deliver high-impact performances.
Stormers Director of Rugby John Dobson praised Simelane’s attitude and progression, noting the combination of raw ability and a strong desire to grow within the team structure.
“Wandi has got incredible natural talent which has marked him as a dangerous player from a young age. What we have been particularly impressed with is his willingness to learn and develop his game.
"He has an incredibly high ceiling and we are looking forward to seeing what he can do and add to our team going forward.”
Simelane, equally positive about his future in Cape Town, expressed appreciation for the team’s culture and the opportunities it has provided him.
“At the DHL Stormers, players are encouraged to express themselves and make the most of their abilities.
"I feel that I have grown as a player since moving here and I’m looking forward to seeing where this team can go.”
