Sharks overcame efforts from Morne Steyn as they started the new season of Super Rugby with a 23-15 win at Jonsson Kings Park on Friday.

Morne Steyn making a comeback into Super Rugby kicked the opening points in the second minute of the game to get Bulls off the mark before Curwin Bosch kicked back to back three pointers to provide Sharks a three-point lead.

It was Sharks, who had the best start in the second half with S'busiso Nkosi dotting down early and Bosch followed with a conversion and a penalty kick providing the home side with a 16-9 lead.

However, Steyn ensured Bulls were in the game with two penalty goals coming in the 61st and 75th minute before Sanele Nohamba's try in the closing stage sealed the game for Sharks with a eight point margin.
