Scotland have suffered a setback ahead of the Six Nations tournament with fly-half Adam Hastings likely to miss the tournament due to injury.

The 26-year-old sustained the injury while playing for Gloucester during the Premiership game against Leicester Tigers on Christmas eve.

This is also Hastings' second injury in recent times after he was sidelined following Scotland's game against Fiji on 5th November which led to the recall of Finn Russell.

A statement on the club’s website on Thursday revealed that Hastings will require surgery, while head coach George Skivington said earlier this week: “He will not be back any time soon.”

With Hastings sidelined and Glasgow’s Ross Thompson recovering from an ankle surgery, Blair Kinghorn is expected to be a back up for Russell while Munster fly-half Ben Healy is also a potential option for Gregor Townsend.

Scotland will kick-start their Six Nations campaign with a clash against England on 4th February.
