Head coach Gregor Townsend has announced a 37-player squad for Scotland's Six Nations campaign, featuring the inclusion of uncapped Saracens fly-half Fergus Burke and the return of veteran second-row Jonny Gray.
The squad will prepare for its opening match against Italy at Murrayfield on February 1.
New Zealand-born Fergus Burke, eligible to represent Scotland through his Glasgow-born grandfather, receives his maiden Scotland call-up.
The 25-year-old, who joined Saracens from the Crusaders, has impressed with his performances and will provide competition for Finn Russell at fly-half. With Tom Jordan as the other No. 10 option, Burke's selection bolsters Scotland's depth in a crucial position.
Burke had the choice to represent the All Blacks or England but opted for Scotland, a move that strengthens Townsend’s lineup ahead of the tournament.
Jonny Gray’s recall marks a significant addition to the squad. The 30-year-old second-rower last represented Scotland in the Six Nations against Italy in 2023.
After missing the 2023 World Cup due to a knee injury and declining a call-up for the autumn series, Gray's return could be pivotal for Scotland’s forward pack.
Glasgow forward Jack Mann is another uncapped addition, while 34-year-old Dave Cherry receives a surprise recall after a lengthy absence following his early exit from the 2023 World Cup due to a concussion.
Sione Tuipulotu continues as captain, supported by Finn Russell and Rory Darge as vice-captains. Glasgow captain Kyle Steyn misses out due to a recent injury.
Townsend’s squad blends experience and emerging talent, with Scotland aiming to kick off their Six Nations campaign strongly against Italy in Edinburgh.
