Scarlets 28 - 8 Edinburgh, Llanelli

A clinical performance from Scarlets saw them overcome Edinburgh with 28-8 bonus point victory in their Pro 14 clash in Llanelli on Saturday.

After 18 minutes went without a point, fly-half Rhys Patchell crossed over allowing fullback Leigh Halfpenny with the conversion and nine minutes later, the Pro 14 champions doubled their lead after Gareth Davies went past the line.

Just at the stroke of half-time a penalty from Duncan Weird and a touchdown from Jason Harries provided Edinburgh some respite as they brought down the gap to six points.

Richard Cockerill's side suffered a major setback when Michele Rizzo was red-carded in the 45th minute for performing a shoulder charge on Davies with the Scarlets scrum-half forced off the field with an injury.

Replacement Werner Kruger capitalised on the advantage when he strolled past the post in the 46th minute and the lead became 13 points after a conversion from Halfpenny while their quest for the bonus point was completed with the fourth try from
Aaron Shingler that came in the 62nd minute as the home side completed a 20 point victory.

Scarlets are now second in Conference B while Edinburgh move down to fourth.
