Talking Rugby Union caught up with Queensland Reds hooker Saia Fainga'a

1.How are you feeling about the Reds chances this year?

I feel the boys have really dug deep to fight some hard battles so far, but we still have a long way to go and some tough games ahead.

2. How was it making your debut for the Wallabies?

It was awesome; it is something I have worked towards my entire career.

3. How was it signing for the Reds from the Brumbies, exciting?

Initially it was a tough decision leaving my family in Canberra, but moving to The Reds has been one of the best decisions of my life, and I now consider Brisbane home.

4. Who was your rugby idol growing up?

George Smith

5. So far what has been your career highlight so far in your short career?

Playing with my Twin Brother Anthony for the Wallabies, it was a dream come true.

6. Would you ever consider moving to Europe to play rugby?

Definitely, it is something I would be interested in at some point in my career, but for now I am enjoying playing for the reds

7. Are there any players that impress you from the Northern Hemisphere teams?

Steve Thompson “ I found him very tough to play against. His skills are inspiring for me also.

8. Are you looking forward to the British and Irish lions coming to Australia?

Yes, a tour like that is always great to have on the Rugby Calendar and it would be great to be a part of, but there is a lot of hard work to be done before I think to those games.

9. Who has been the toughest player you have played against so far?

Playing against my youngest brother Colby against the Brumbies this year and last year was really tough, you want the best for your family but over riding that is you want to win the game.

10. How do you rate Australia's chances in the world cup?

The Wallaby squad is a young enthusiastic squad so hopefully that will count for something when the games get tough.

Other Questions

Favourite holiday destination? Visiting Family in Tonga, or going back home to see my parents, Nan and sister. Oh and Colby.

Favourite food? Chicken Schnitzel and chips.

Favourite movies? The Hangover and Blade

Favourite band/artist? Celine Dion is my number 1, also J Sean and I have a little Beiber fever at the moment.

Hero (who isn't in rugby)? Richard Branson, he has built his business from the ground up and has his fingers in many pies.

Favourite sport/team (which isn't in rugby)? Brisbane Roar

What do you do in your spare time when not playing rugby?

I have studied property which took up a lot of my spare days, now I like to put those skills into action when I can, I also like to spend time with friends and family, and try to meet the fans, or help out charities where I can.

I first noticed talkingrugbyunion.co.uk after they asked Anthony and I to retweet a message on Twitter, it is a great website that covers rugby across the globe. It is always up to date and a great read.

Finally “ if you had a message to say to your fans that have been supporting the Reds week in week out, what would you say to all of them?

Our fans are what makes all the hard work so much easier, they were loyal through the tough times and it is such a great feeling having them at the home games cheering and I really enjoy meeting them and interacting with them on Facebook and Twitter
